
Existence of Black Rose
Black rose has found its existence in fiction, especially in
Gothic fiction. In reality, deep red or maroon colored roses are referred to as
black roses. Generally, the color of a deep red rose is darkened by using a
mixture of water and black ink. There is no real existence of black rose and it
is just a part of fiction.

They are chosen for depicting situations which are filled with grief or pain. Some

Mourning
Black is the considered to be the color of death, and black
roses are associated with mourning and death. Thus, these roses are included in
funeral processions. Also, when a person is leaving for war or other dangerous
journeys, they are given black roses to symbolize that they are not expected to
return from their journey.
Heartbreak/ Sad
Love
The sudden feeling of heartbreak or end of a relationship is
associated with black rose. Usually, you will find situations in fiction where
black roses are sent to lovers to show the death of a relationship. It also
depicts the end of a bad phase/bad habit in one’s life. They also show a deep
amount of hatred or revenge that one is waiting to take.
Political Symbolism
In world politics, black rose has a significant role. It is used
as a symbol of the anarchist movement. The journal of the anarchist ideas which
was published in Boston was titled Black Rose. The Irish had Black Rose as its
codeword when the British law of prohibition of mention of Ireland as a
sovereign nation, was passed.
